Protests Erupt in UK Cities Against Ban on Pro-Palestinian Group

The police in several British cities have arrested crowds of people who have protested against a ban on a pro-Palestinian group.

The campaign group Defend Our Juries states that 86 people have been arrested in five different cities. Among them are said to be priests, social workers and veterans from the 1960s civil rights movement, according to the group.

"We will not be deterred from protesting against genocide, nor from defending those who refuse to look away," the statement reads.

The London police state that they have arrested 41 people for "showing support for a banned organization". One more person was arrested for assault, the police add. The Manchester police have arrested 16 people, while the police in Cardiff arrested 13. The rest have been arrested in northern England, according to the activist group.

All were arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000.

The group Palestine Action has recently been labeled as a terrorist organization in the UK after breaking into a military airbase.
