At least twelve Tunisians, including three children, have been found dead since a migrant boat capsized off the Tunisian island of Djerba.
The boat sank at dawn. 29 people were rescued, according to Fethi Baccouche, spokesperson for the country's judiciary.
According to local media, there were around 60 passengers on board. The boat was supposed to depart from a peninsula on northern Djerba and head to the Italian island of Lampedusa.
Tunisia and neighboring Libya have become important departure points for people trying to reach Europe on often life-threatening journeys.
