The Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen has carried out repeated rocket and drone attacks on Israel since the war in Gaza broke out in October 2023, as a result of the movement's Palestinian allies Hamas attacking Israel.
Last Saturday, the Houthi movement stated that it had fired a ballistic rocket at Israel in response to the country's actions against the Palestinians during the war. It was supposed to be the first fired rocket at Israel that the group announced since the ceasefire between Israel and Iran came into force on June 24 and ended the twelve-day war.
Israel and the USA have also carried out several attacks in Yemen, aimed at Houthi targets, such as ports and the airport in the capital Sanaa.
