–It was absolutely no steering from the EU's side, says Justice Commissioner Michael McGrath in an interview with the news agency cooperation European Newsroom (ENR), where TT is also included.

He calls the large turnout a "natural reaction" from grassroots organizations and the Hungarian public, although with international support.

–It was a very powerful and clear demonstration of solidarity and support for the hbtqi community in Budapest. Nobody has anything to be afraid of when people gather peacefully, says McGrath.

Hungary's government has threatened with legal actions against the participants. At the same time, Hungary itself is threatened with legal actions from the EU against the laws that the government has introduced to counter pride parades.

–We are waiting for the answers from the Hungarian authorities, says McGrath.
