Just before 22 on Tuesday, several calls were made to SOS Alarm about shots being fired in Upplands-Bro municipality, north of Stockholm.
When the police arrived at the scene, people were performing heart and lung resuscitation on a gunshot wounded man.
An ambulance has been guided to the scene and the man is now on his way to the hospital, says police spokesperson Ola Österling, who does not have information about the man's age.
The shooting is believed to have taken place outdoors in a residential area in central Bro. The police have a comprehensive operation in the area, including the regional task force. Interviews are being held with a large number of witnesses who were in the vicinity of the crime scene.
There were a lot of people outdoors, so we have a lot of witnesses. We also have a large number of cameras in Bro that we are currently retrieving footage from.
An investigation into attempted murder has been initiated.
A black car was reportedly seen in connection with the shooting and the police suspect that it may be linked to the attempted murder. The car is likely registered as a taxi and is a Mazda model, according to the police website.
Earlier in the evening, another shooting took place in Jordbro, south of Stockholm. A man in his 30s was seriously injured and a young man was arrested during the evening.
We don't see any natural connection, but we're not ruling anything out, says Ola Österling.
