Man Shot Dead at Restaurant – Three Charged

Three people are being prosecuted for the murder of a 27-year-old man who was shot to death at a restaurant in Fittja, south of Stockholm, in March. Much suggests that the murder took place in a gang environment, but no clear motive has been found, according to the prosecutor.

Three weapons were found in connection with the crime scene on March 21. Two of the weapons have been used in the shooting, according to prosecutor Niksa Lucic.

It's an automatic carbine, a revolver, and a pistol. The assessment is that a shot from the automatic carbine killed the victim, he says.

The defendants are a 17-year-old boy, who was 16 years old at the time of the crime, another 17-year-old boy, and a 19-year-old man.

Caught on Film

The police's surveillance cameras caught parts of the incident on film.

The three were arrested near the crime scene shortly after the shooting and match the surveillance footage from the incident, says Lucic.

All three have been detained since March 25. They are also being prosecuted for attempted murder of the other twelve guests and staff who were in the restaurant at the time of the shooting, as well as for aggravated weapons offenses.

Weapons and clothing that the perpetrators are believed to have tried to get rid of were found in the surrounding area.

There, we have evidence with DNA that links the defendants to the crime, says Lucic.

"Indicates Gang Environment"

According to the prosecutor, much suggests that the murder took place in a gang environment or as part of a conflict between criminal networks. However, it has been difficult to establish an exact motive for the shooting.

We have not been able to establish an exact link between the gang environment and the victim or a threat against the victim.

However, the circumstances surrounding the shooting lead the prosecutor to link the murder to a gang environment.

The fact that the individuals are heavily armed and have the capacity for violence suggests that it involves criminal networks.

The three defendants deny the crime.
