A 35-year-old man was shot at outdoors in central Åstorp in northwestern Skåne during the night leading up to Thursday.

The alarm came in to the police at 03.15 after the man heard several shots and saw a muzzle flash. He was not injured.

The man is certain that the shot was aimed at him, but there is nothing to indicate that there was a threat against him previously and he is not believed to be part of such circles as far as we know, says Tommy Bengtsson, duty officer at Police Region South.

A large police operation was launched during the night to find a suspected shooter. No crime classification has been established yet.

We are trying to clarify exactly what he saw and what happened, but it's still early, so it's difficult to provide more information, says Tommy Bengtsson.

The area is cordoned off and forensic technicians are on their way. The police have initiated a preliminary investigation into attempted murder and aggravated weapons offenses.
