A 64-year-old man is being detained on suspicion of murder after a man lost his life at sea outside Gothenburg on Thursday.
The alarm was initially reported as a boat accident at sea in the Kattegat in Öckerö municipality, about 25 kilometers outside the outer islands of Gothenburg's archipelago.
In a large rescue effort, the man was winched up from the sea. He was taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter, but his life could not be saved. It later emerged that the incident is being investigated as a murder and that the other man had been arrested.
Both men are foreign nationals, according to prosecutor Maria Thorell. They are believed to have been on a boat vacation together.
