The man was led into the courtroom at Södertörn's district court shortly after lunchtime on Thursday, wearing handcuffs and dressed in green pants and a light-colored long-sleeved shirt. The handcuffs were removed before he sat down next to his lawyer Marcus Lodin.

Prosecutor Angelica Runesson requested that the man, who has no prior convictions, be detained on probable cause for murder and be subject to restrictions during the detention period.

The 26-year-old followed the prosecutor and the court's presiding judge Peter Grym attentively.

After a brief consultation behind closed doors, the court announced that the 26-year-old would be detained for the murder.

Captured on Camera

It was at 19:40 on Tuesday that the man attacked the woman at Ica Maxi in Norsborg, Botkyrka municipality, where she worked. The woman, who was in her 60s, was seriously injured and later died at the hospital.

Parts of the incident are said to have been captured on surveillance camera.

The 26-year-old, who appears to have been unknown to the victim, was apprehended on the spot in the store by security guards. A knife, which he is believed to have used, was also seized.

It is clear so far that this is linked to poor mental health, and not anything else, but the investigation is in its early stages, so it's difficult to say anything in detail, says Marcus Lodin to TT after the detention hearing.

"Feeling Unwell"

The man is feeling very unwell today, says Lodin.

Partly due to his previous mental health, but also because he is sitting here today and has done what he has done.

Does he express remorse?

Yes, clearly so.

The police and prosecutor believe they have a good understanding of what happened, and prosecutor Angelica Runesson says the investigation will now continue with routine measures.

The investigation will now continue as planned, including interviews and technical examinations, she says.
