A 35-year-old man has been shot in a residence in Åkersberga north of Stockholm, according to the police.

In connection with the police operation, a man suspected of attempted murder and serious weapons offenses was arrested and later detained.

The man who was shot was awake when he was taken to the hospital by ambulance helicopter. The injury is not currently life-threatening, according to the police, who report that the alarm came in at 01.18 on Wednesday morning.

According to information from TV4 News, the police suspect that the man was not the target.

The police's work on site continues with door-to-door knocking, camera inventory, and technical investigation, and some traces have been secured.

We believe that there may be several people involved in this case, but we are currently investigating, says the police's press spokesperson Per Fahlström to TT.
