Two men went on a rampage on Wednesday morning in several places in Östhammar. According to witnesses, they swung a sledgehammer around. Among other things, two restaurants, a café, a toilet, and a shower were vandalized. Even a mailbox was set on fire, writes UNT.

Several people saw the men walking around and destroying things in the town and alerted the police. On the spot, the police were able to quickly apprehend two young men suspected of vandalism.

It looked like they had a sledgehammer. They hardly spoke to each other, just walked around and destroyed, says a witness who passed the men to UNT.

According to the municipal director, the municipality now needs to spend hundreds of thousands of kronor to cover the cost of restoration, but hopes that the perpetrators will be forced to pay.

The chairman of the municipal council, Fabian Sjöberg, also reacts to the incident.

It's completely hellish, he says to the newspaper.
