The American super sprinter Noah Lyles failed to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics after a mess in the qualifiers – but at the weekend's qualifiers for the Paris Olympics, things went better.

Lyles powered through the qualifiers in Eugene, Oregon, and won with a personal record, 9.83. Second, four hundredths of a second behind, came Kenny Bednarek, and a further hundredth behind, Fred Kerly, the 2022 World Champion over the distance, finished in 9.88.
