The object found at the entrance of the town hall in Hjo on Thursday morning was a live smoke grenade, writes P4 Skaraborg.
According to the police, it was a security officer who found the object at the entrance. The person believed it could be a smoke hand grenade and contacted the police, who in turn contacted the national bomb squad.
After the police investigation, they have concluded that the object was a live smoke grenade.
A smoke grenade is intended to spread smoke and obscure visibility at a location and is not used for explosions or similar. It is therefore not considered to have posed a direct threat, writes Hjo municipality on its website.
The police have already initiated an investigation into gross unlawful threats against a group.
