The car, a Hyundai from 2011, was sold at auction this week for 35,500 kronor. The District Court has now also rejected the woman's request to get the car back.
The court writes that there are "circumstances" that suggest the woman owns the car, but that she has not shown on what grounds her friend had possession of the car without owning it. She is now planning to appeal the decision to the Court of Appeal.
I get upset over the principle that we have a law that makes it possible for the Enforcement Authority to essentially steal my car, says 25-year-old Ebba Olsson to SVT.
According to Ebba Olsson, her friend had only borrowed the car when he was stopped at a police checkpoint. It ended with the car being seized for unpaid debts. Since a couple of years ago, the Enforcement Authority has been able to get help from the police to more easily carry out this type of case.
