Leif "Loket" Olsson became nationally known as the host of "Bingolotto", which premiered in 1991. "Loket" led the program for nearly ten years.
We freelanced in the 1970s and then we were on local radio in Gothenburg, so we have a long history together, says Pelle Johannisson, who announced that Olsson had passed away.
According to Johannisson, Leif Olsson passed away on Thursday.
"Go, glad and kind"
TV4's long-time host Agneta Sjödin participated early in "Bingolotto" where she met Leif "Loket" Olsson and describes him as "go, glad and kind".
He was a very strong character and profile who stood out in a wonderful way, says Agneta Sjödin, who calls him a natural talent.
He was so relaxed and himself. He didn't care what people thought and thought, it was a liberating way.
Even "Bingolotto's" current host Lotta Engberg mourns her predecessor and friend. They met for the first time in the early 1990s when she performed on the program and they continued to keep in touch in later years.
I could call him if I didn't know what to bet on for a horse at the trotting track. He was so kind. A "kind old man", as we can say here in Gothenburg.
Successor Rickard Olsson met "Loket" for the first time when he was about to start hosting "Bingolotto" in 2005.
His passing really hurts. He was a real character and I'm so glad I got to walk on earth at the same time as him. He could be stubborn outwardly, but behind the facade was an enormous heart.
Scherman: "Historic achievement"
Jan Scherman was TV4's CEO for many years. He emphasizes Leif "Loket" Olsson's great achievement for the channel, but also for the sports movement that "Bingolotto" collected money for.
He made a historic achievement for Swedish association life. No one has probably contributed as much as he has done through his hosting of "Bingolotto". And he made a historic achievement for Swedish television.
Jan Scherman also emphasizes that "Loket" was important for TV4's breakthrough when the channel was new in the early 1990s and needed to reach out to viewers. The channel's slogan then was "TV4 - a part of Sweden".
I would like to say that Leif "Loket" Olsson and TV4 became all of Sweden, not just a part of Sweden.
Corrected: An earlier version contained an incorrect statement about when Olsson died.
