Lego is shutting down its airline

For over 60 years, customers and employees within the Lego Group have been able to fly with the company's own airline. But now, the Lego family's investment company Kirkbi has decided that the flight department will be shut down at the end of February, according to Danish industry media.

The reason is that the demand for air travel has decreased, among other things due to increased focus on sustainability and reduced climate impact.

The company had three aircraft and 16 employees, who are now being laid off. One of the planes has been sent to the airline Blackbird Air, what happens to the other two is still unclear.

In October, DR reported that the three aircraft had flown over 300 times in the past year. However, it is unclear how many of the trips were made by external customers.

In addition to trips to Spanish holiday destinations, trips were also made to Inverness in Scotland, where the Lego family owns a property. There have also been trips to various locations where the family has participated in equestrian competitions.
