Four people, including one woman, have been confirmed dead after the attack on party offices in central Beirut on Sunday. One of the victims was Mohammad Afif, a close associate of Hezbollah's former leader Hassan Nasrallah. Over ten people, including several children, were injured. And in a separate attack, two people were killed, according to Lebanese authorities.
Such Israeli attacks in the middle of Beirut are unusual, and fuel fear among the population. A large majority of Israel's targets usually lie in al-Dahiya, the southern suburbs where the enemy Hezbollah has its traditional strongholds.
After numerous Israeli airstrikes against both the capital area and the rest of Lebanon over the weekend, the Lebanese Ministry of Education has decided to close schools in Beirut on Monday and Tuesday for security reasons.
