The exhibition, which takes place between November 22 and April 6, 2026, includes around seventy paintings from the years 1963-1972. Several of them have been overlooked in large retrospective exhibitions after the artist's death in 1973, but have now been reevaluated.
Next year, a large exhibition with Britta Marakatt-Labba is also awaiting, from June 14. "Where every stitch breathes/Juohke sákkaldat vuoigŋá" deals with Sami everyday life but also depicts the traces of colonialism and an exploited nature.
Lap-See Lam's film installation "Floating sea palace" will also take over Moderna – where a three-story high dragon ship evokes thoughts about the dream of returning to a home that is constantly changing. The work is a further development of her "The altersea opera", which was shown at the Venice art biennale in 2024. Here, it is combined with Kholod Hawash's textile art works.
The museum's visitors will also be able to see, among others, American Mike Kelley's groundbreaking performance works, Argentine Vivian Suter, Albanian Edi Hila, and textile art with "Woven worlds" by Kiki Smith under 2025.
