Several foreign citizens and immigrants are among those murdered in the school shooting in Örebro.
This has raised questions about whether the act on Tuesday was racially motivated. Ulf Kristersson believes it is important to try to establish the perpetrator's motives.
It is clear that everyone who has been exposed to serious crimes wants to know, why did this happen, says Kristersson when he guest-stars on SVT's "Helgstudion".
On Friday, Kristersson issued a written statement where he emphasized that the event in Örebro has raised a particular fear among immigrants in Sweden.
We do not have all the names yet, but it is obvious that several of those who have been killed come from other countries, says Kristersson to SVT.
He stresses that he does not want to speculate and that it is the police's task to investigate the motive – and whether it is racist.
But just the suspicion that there could be such a motive I understand raises fear in people, especially among people who have come to Sweden.
I just want to express my respect for this without drawing any conclusions at all, because it is the police's task.
