The facility, part of the existing Wonsan-Kalma project in eastern North Korea, is "a first, big step" in developing tourism, according to the news agency.
Images show how Kim Jong-Un, accompanied by his daughter Kim Ju-Ae, walks around the resort and its otherwise empty hotel buildings.
The leader is very pleased that the facility has been completed so that it "can be successfully used for important external, political, and cultural arrangements". He hopes that tourism will contribute to the country's economic growth, it is reported.
During the covid pandemic, North Korea closed its borders completely to the outside world, after previously having had a limited tourism sector. In February, the first group of foreigners arrived after the border was opened, a group of 100 ski tourists from Russia.
