Fights, alcohol, and betrayal – that's how Kenza Zouiten Subosic describes her upbringing with her dad in "Sommar i P1".

In her summer talk, she tells more openly than ever about the infected relationship.

As a teenager, Kenza Zouiten Subosic became one of Sweden's biggest bloggers. In a short time, she started earning big money, receiving awards, and gracing magazine covers. But her summer talk is not about the success story with the blog. Instead, she talks about her relationship with her dad, who passed away in 2018 after falling ill with cancer.

The summer talk is a close portrayal of the blogger's upbringing. She tells about a mom who has three different jobs to make ends meet, and a relationship with her dad marked by fights, alcohol, and betrayal.

Turbulent youth

The listener gets to follow Zouiten Subosic through her youth, where she drinks alcohol and parties to escape the turbulent family life, until the turning point that comes with the blog. Thanks to it, she soon earns enough money to buy her own apartment and move away from home.

Suddenly, she's living a kind of double life, where her career is skyrocketing, and her love life is flourishing, while feelings of guilt over leaving her family and her relationship with her dad constantly make themselves known.

When she gets married in the summer of 2017, she has hired guards to patrol the area.

For the most part, they were there because I was afraid that dad would show up, and I didn't know how I would have handled it, she says.

Reconciliation during illness

The turning point comes when Zouiten Subosic finds out that he has fallen ill with cancer.

I have a very hard time dealing with the fact that dad is sick. It's like everything is turned upside down again, and I really don't know how I'm going to do it, she says.

In connection with the illness, she chooses to "put everything behind her" to be able to be by his side.

I choose to forgive dad for everything, she says, telling about how they reconcile during his last time in life.

Zouiten Subosic's summer talk is permeated by the relationship with her dad, but it's also a tribute to her siblings and mom – and not least to her husband, Aleks Subosic. She concludes by turning to her sons and tells about the joy of finally having the secure family she dreamed of as a young person.
