Karin Mattsson chooses to resign as chairman of the Swedish Ski Association, according to Expressen.
Mattsson was elected chairman in 2018, and became historic as the first woman to hold the position.
Now she chooses to leave the assignment, and explains that a major factor in the decision is the economic aspect.
This is in practice an honorary assignment. We have a small symbolic compensation, but it takes a lot of time. So I simply need to prioritize what I spend my time on. I need to support myself, to put it bluntly, she says to Expressen.
Just a few months ago, Mattsson was elected to the FIS council, the highest decision-making body within the International Ski and Snowboard Federation.
It's clear that it's not optimal timing. But you can't plan how these periods relate to each other, she continues to the newspaper.
Mattsson has previously also been chairman of the Swedish Sports Confederation.
