A judge has stopped President Donald Trump's ordered transfer of trans women to men's prisons in the USA.

The twelve trans women in question should not be moved, federal judge Royce Lamberth has ruled.

According to Lamberth, a transfer would violate the US Constitution, citing that it prohibits "cruel and unusual punishment".

Trump ordered in January that "men should not be imprisoned in women's prisons". The imprisoned trans women then filed a lawsuit to stop the decision from being implemented, primarily due to fear of losing medical treatments if they were transferred.
