The trial against the American rapper Young Thug takes another turn – now Judge Ural Glanville is forced to resign.
It was after a secret meeting between the judge, prosecutors, and a so-called "uncooperative" witness was revealed that the trial was paused. According to the defense, the judge should never have allowed the meeting without them being present, or at least informed.
Another judge was tasked with investigating the incident and came to the conclusion that nothing inappropriate was discussed, but that the conversation should have been held with open doors. However, it is problematic, according to the investigator, that Judge Glanville initially did not assign anyone to clarify the incident.
Jeffery Lamar, which is the rapper's real name, is charged with crimes including gang criminality and extortion. The trial began in November last year.
