31 years old, Floderus said goodbye to friends in Iran, but when he was about to travel home, he was arrested at Tehran's airport by plainclothes police. Two days later, he found out that he was charged with espionage against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

"I see my name on a paper, but then it's like a punch in the gut. All strength drains out of me. It's the most terrifying moment I've experienced in my entire life", he says in a press release.

Together with journalist Sara Recabarren, he describes the time in the small 12-square-meter cell, where he struggled not to give up hope.

Journalist Sara Recabarren was an editor at Kalla fakta when she first contacted Johan's parents in the spring of 2023. According to her, the book is about "finding oneself reduced to a pawn in a political game and the difficult art of finding the inner strength needed not to succumb to hunger, abuse, and isolation".
