Ishiba, who informed the parliament on Monday, said that the government is working on a proposal that will ensure care in Japan for "those who are sick or injured in Gaza".
According to the Prime Minister, it may also become relevant to offer educational places for people in Gaza, where Hamas is currently in a fragile ceasefire with Israel.
The Health Authority in Hamas-ruled Gaza recently said that 50 Palestinian patients, including 30 children with cancer, have been allowed through the reopened border crossing to Egypt from Rafah on the Gaza Strip, as part of the ceasefire agreement.
However, according to the head of the hospitals in Gaza, the needs are significantly greater – 6,000 people are said to be ready to be transported from Gaza, while over 12,000 are described as being "in urgent need of treatment".
