A person who pretended to be Janet Jackson's manager has, on the singer's behalf, apologized for spreading a conspiracy theory about presidential candidate Kamala Harris' ethnicity.
It now turns out that the man does not represent Jackson and that the apology was not approved by the artist.
A representative for Janet Jackson tells People that he is not "affiliated with her staff" and that it is her brother Randy Jackson who is her manager.
It was in an interview with The Guardian that Jackson, 58, claimed to have heard that Kamala Harris' father is white, not a black man from Jamaica. A conspiracy theory spread by Trump supporters – and even by Donald Trump himself.
