Nils Svensson, formerly van der Poel and speed skater, set a world record when he won Olympic Games gold on 10,000 meters in Beijing.
Now the 28-year-old's record time has been beaten.
Italian Davide Ghiotto skated the distance in 12:25.69 during a World Cup competition in Canadian Calgary – and was over five seconds faster.
The Swede's previous world record was 12:30.70.
Nils Svensson changed, according to Expressen, his name on November 22. Svensson is his mother's maiden name.
