Esmail Qaani, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's special unit Quds, is "in good health" according to the unit's vice commander.
The vice commander Iraj Masjedi's statement in state-run Iranian media comes after rumors that Qaani had been killed in Beirut. Two high-ranking Iranian security sources told Reuters yesterday that the commander had not been heard from since Friday, when Israel carried out an attack believed to have targeted the likely new Hezbollah leader Hashem Safieddine.
Neither has Safieddine appeared in public since Friday's attack on al-Dahiya in southern Beirut.
