The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has previously announced that they are introducing e-sports to the Olympics.
It is now clear that the games will take place in Saudi Arabia over the next twelve years, after the IOC and Saudi Arabia signed a sponsorship agreement.
"By collaborating with Saudi Arabia's sports federation, we ensure that Olympic values are respected, particularly with regard to promoting equality and engaging the young audience," says IOC President Thomas Bach in a statement.
The World Championship in e-sports is currently underway in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital.
The first edition of the Olympic e-sports will take place in 2025 and will then be held "regularly" over the next twelve years.
The initiative is one of several sports investments Saudi Arabia has made in recent years. They are hosting the 2034 World Championship in football and the 2027 Asian Football Championship, and have previously co-founded the LIV golf tour.
