The confectionery manufacturer Cloetta – with brands such as Läkerol, Ahlgrens cars and Kexchoklad in the portfolio – reports a profit before tax of 113 million kronor for the third quarter. During the corresponding quarter last year, the company made a profit of 96 million kronor.
The operating result fell by over 30 per cent to 124 million kronor, down from 182 million during the same period last year.
Turnover increased by 2 per cent to just over 2 billion kronor.
"Cocoa prices were record-high in the middle of the quarter, but we believe that we can continue to handle the increased costs of raw materials in a good way for the rest of the year," says CEO Katarina Tell in the report and adds:
"Even though chocolate products are only part of our portfolio, margins may be affected in the autumn, when demand for chocolate products typically increases."
