The Asian markets were both up and down on Wednesday, after investors followed the development in the two-day meeting on trade agreements and tariffs between the US and China.
The talks ended without an agreement on extended tariff pause, but both parties expressed optimism.
At lunchtime on Wednesday, Tokyo's Topix index was up 0.4 percent while the key Nikkei 225 fluctuated around zero. So did Shenzhen's composite index, while Shanghai's equivalent was up 0.7 percent.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index pointed downwards with 0.2 percent.
