The Israeli military (IDF) claims to have killed the head of Hezbollah's financial branch – who was also responsible for the transfer of weapons from Iran – in an attack in Syria's capital Damascus on Monday.
Syria's defense department stated in a statement that two civilians were killed and three more injured in an Israeli attack.
The attack occurred near the Golden Mazzeh Hotel, an exclusive hotel in the center of Syria's capital, according to state media.
A spokesperson for the Israeli military said that they were behind the attack and claimed that the deceased led Hezbollah's unit for money transfers.
"We will continue to act against Hezbollah in Syria and everywhere," the military said in a statement.
