The Swedish ice hockey goalie legend Boo Ahl has passed away at the age of 54. This is announced by the club HV71 in a press release.
According to the club, Ahl died during a vacation trip.
"It's an extremely heavy message we've received. Bosse was loved by HV fans and a fantastic appreciated and respected colleague. We will remember him with warmth and for the considerate person he was. Our thoughts go today to the family", says Richard Nylin, club director of HV71.
The ice hockey profile began his career as a child at HV71's hockey school and was then involved in the club's first Swedish Championship gold in 1995. In addition, Ahl won silver in connection with the World Championship 1995 and another Swedish Championship gold in 2004.
After retiring as a player, Ahl has worked on the material side in HV71 for many years. The club describes him as "a fire soul who loved hockey" and as "always meeting his fellow human beings with a smile".
