William Ignberg Nilsson joined HV71 before the season as one of the club's first new acquisitions.
But now the club has received a nightmare message.
The forward is forced to undergo surgery and will be out for large parts of the season.
Unfortunately, William will need to be operated on in the coming days and I expect him to be out of play for around 3-4 months, says Doctor Jonas Kalman to the club's website.
It was last week that the accident occurred, when the 23-year-old fell and injured his foot during a visit to Gotland. Now it turns out that the new acquisition is forced to undergo an operation.
Ignberg Nilsson joined from AIK in HockeyAllsvenskan, where he has spent the last two seasons.
