One of the military horses that galloped through central London in the spring, drenched in blood, will be able to return to service after more than six months of recovery, according to a charity organization.
Vida was one of five horses that bolted near Buckingham Palace on April 24 after being frightened by the cacophony from a nearby construction site and ran several kilometers through the city during the morning rush.
Three of the horses – Tennyson, Trojan, and Vanquish – quickly returned to service, but Vida, which has been treated for injuries, was one of two horses that needed to be operated on after colliding with vehicles.
Quaker, a black horse that ran with Vida and brushed against a taxi and ran towards red lights and oncoming traffic, is now the only horse that has not returned to the regiment.
Three of the four soldiers who were thrown off the horses were taken to hospital. They were expected to make a full recovery.
