Hitachi Energy is investing in a new machine park at the factory in Piteå to meet the increased demand for power transmission equipment.
The hope is that an expansion of the existing factory in Piteå can be put into operation in the autumn of 2026 and that the workforce will then have increased from today's 200 employees to 300 employees.
"We see an increased demand for our world-leading technology that accelerates the transition to renewable energy around the world and we are very pleased to be able to invest and expand our production in Piteå", says Hitachi Energy's CEO in Sweden, Tobias Hansson, according to a press release.
Hitachi Energy's factory in Piteå produces composite insulators. They are used, among other things, in transformers, switches, and power electronics and components in systems that contribute to and enable the transmission of large amounts of energy.
