Israel's military reports that more than 100 rockets were fired into the country from Lebanon in two rounds early on Sunday morning. Around 20 projectiles were fired into Israel from Lebanon at five o'clock, and then a larger wave of around 85 rockets came an hour later, according to the military.
A handful of people were injured, according to Israeli media, in the attack on the base in Haifa. Israel announced afterwards that, for security reasons, all schools in the northern parts of the country will be closed until Monday.
Hizbollah claims that the projectiles fired at the Haifa base, an airbase, were of the Fadi 1 and 2 models - variants that have never been used before. They were fired, according to Hizbollah, in response to repeated Israeli attacks on various areas in Lebanon.
The escalation of attacks between Israel and Hizbollah's military branch continues, exacerbated by Israel's killing of a number of high-ranking Hizbollah military personnel in an attack in Beirut, where civilians also died. The total death toll in that attack has now risen to 45, according to Lebanese authorities.
