In the first match of the day, Switzerland took a 5-0 lead after four rounds and eventually won 6-5. Skipper Niklas Edin had a tough start to the match with mistakes in both the second and third rounds.

The mistakes could not be recovered from by the 2022 Olympic gold team.

Things went better later on Sunday. Sweden had a grip on the even match against Italy all the way. Even though the Italians reduced the score to 3-5 in the eighth round, the Swedes replied with a two-pointer for a 7-3 victory.

The team now stands at two wins and one loss after starting the European Championship adventure in Finland with a win against the Czech Republic.

Team Edin has seven European Championship gold medals on their merit list, but the team had to settle for silver last year after a final loss to Scotland.

The women's team, led by Anna Hasselborg, has had a brilliant start to the European Championship. On Saturday, they won against both Scotland and Hungary, and on Sunday, they achieved their third straight win. Sweden comfortably won against Estonia with 8-2.

For the women's national team, the championship continues on Monday with matches against Lithuania and Denmark. Team Edin will face Germany and Norway.
