Donald Trump has appointed his former colleague Thomas Homan as the new head of border surveillance. The incoming president makes this clear in a post on Truth Social, Trump's own social media platform.
The task involves Homan, among other things, being responsible for monitoring the borders of the USA in the north and south, as well as maritime and air security.
"I have known Tom for a long time and there is no one better suited to monitor and control our borders", Trump writes in the post.
Thomas Homan began his career as a police officer and was awarded a leading position on border issues by then-President Barack Obama in 2013. When Trump took office as president in 2017, he appointed Homan as head of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency ICE.
