The table tennis player Jonas Hansson has advanced to the quarterfinals in the Paralympic Games in Paris. The Swede won the round of 16 against Paulo Salmin, Brazil, with 3–1 in sets. It is the first time in his career that Hansson has beaten the Brazilian.
Hansson won a closely contested first set with 15–13, but then clearly lost the second with 5–11. Just as clear was Hansson's 11–6 victory in the third set, and via 11–7 in the fourth set, the Swede advanced to the quarterfinals in class 7. There, he will face the Dutchman Jean-Paul Montanus on Tuesday.
