Magdalena Eriksson has stood over parts of Sweden's training sessions before the European Championship in Switzerland after getting some form of overuse in the genrehearsal against Norway.
In the premiere against Denmark in Geneva, Eriksson stayed on the bench the entire game. Peter Gerhardsson did not want to reveal more than that the 31-year-old Bayern Munich player was not available due to a feeling.
That he in that situation could throw in the 37-year-old national team veteran Linda Sembrant as a replacement in the central defense felt safe.
Linda Sembrant has been with twice against Denmark (earlier this year) and done it very well, once with "Magda" and once with "Natta" (Björn), says Gerhardsson.
When he after the European Championship ends his time in the national team, he does it without having lost a single championship premiere. Now Pernille Harder – Magdalena Eriksson's Danish partner – was closest to depriving Blågult of points. But the Danish star's left shot in the end hit the crossbar.
