Chelsea is clear for the semifinal in the club team World Championship. A 2–1 win over Brazilian Palmeiras secured the advancement and a new match against Brazilian opposition, this time in the form of Fluminense.
Cole Palmer gave Chelsea the lead already in the 16th minute in the quarterfinal, 18-year-old Estêvão then showed why Chelsea has recruited him when he equalized for Palmeiras in the 53rd minute. A shot by Chelsea's Malo Gusto in the 83rd minute after a corner went via a Palmeiras player to an own goal and decisive to Chelsea's advantage.
Europe has thus secured three of four semifinal spots in the championship that is decided in the USA. In the other two quarterfinals, French Paris Saint-Germain faces Bayern München and Real Madrid meets Borussia Dortmund.
