For just a few weeks ago, Rolfö seemed to be far from European Championship play. Then, the Barcelona star had an awkward orthopedic boot on her left foot after injuring herself during the Nations League match against Denmark on June 3.
Now, the attacker seems to be close to making her first minutes in the European Championship in Switzerland.
On Saturday, the day after Sweden's 1–0 win in the premiere against Denmark in Geneva, Rolfö participated in the entire training session at the national team base in Cham.
Can she even be relevant against Poland in Lucerne on Tuesday? Assistant national team coach Magnus Wikman seems to think so.
Here and now, it feels like she could play. But she has a background of a few weeks where she hasn't been able to train that much, so it's more that. But she would of course be extremely important if she can be involved, says Wikman.
”Does not seem to doubt at all”
The 31-year-old was involved in all exercises and seemed to use her feared left foot uninhibited. Rolfö did not hold back and offered, among other things, a patented smoker in the cross.
She has probably already missed one match too many and it shows on her. She does not seem to doubt at all in her way of playing, nothing that is visible anyway, says Magnus Wikman.
At the moment, it seems more like a matter of slowing down the Swedish attacking star.
You see just like me that she wants to play. She wants to play a lot. She wants to have an important and decisive role in this championship. You can see it in her. It's great to see.
Uncertain with Eriksson
Desto more uncertain does it look for another Swedish key player. Magdalena Eriksson did not come to play in the premiere after getting an overuse injury in the European Championship rehearsal against Norway last week. On Saturday, she trained only with the team for 45 minutes before moving on to individual runs along one of the long sides, without a ball. Even in the collective part of the training, Eriksson was more passive than the others and did not participate in the shooting exercises, for example.
But Magnus Wikman is not worried about the Bayern Munich defender.
It's going according to plan, I think. She trained fully just a few days ago, so she hasn't been away for that long. I think she'll be ready to play within the next few days, says Wikman.
