Despite a strong start, table tennis player Jonas Hansson could not secure Sweden's first medal in the Paralympics.
The Swede fell in the quarterfinals to the Dutchman Jean Paul Montanus with 1–3 in sets.
A win in the quarterfinals would have secured Hansson at least a bronze medal.
The Kungälv player started brilliantly, going up to a 7–0 lead and winning the first set with 11–5.
In the second set, the Dutchman, who has taken two World Championship silvers, came back – but not without problems. Jonas Hansson saved four set points before finally giving in, 11–13.
The third set was extremely tight, but Montanus took control of the match when he won two straight points at 9–9 and went ahead to a 2–1 lead. The deficit was one that Hansson could not turn around, and Montanus won the fourth set with a clear 11–3.
