Andersson died over the weekend due to a stroke that he suffered the previous weekend. This is reported by Hallandsposten, which has been in contact with "Hacke's" family.
He has dedicated his life to us and HBK has been his second home since he started playing in Halmstad. I myself remember attending all matches at Örjans vall (Halmstad's home ground, ed. note) from as far back as I can remember to when I played myself. He has always followed HBK and been very invested in the club, says son Simon to the newspaper.
The defender began his career in Tidaholm in Västergötland and moved to Halland to play for Halmstads BK in 1987. He made over 200 appearances for HBK, with highlights including the cup gold in 1995 and the Swedish Championship gold in 1997, after which he ended his career.
In recent years, "Hacke" has been a board member of HBK, which mourns the profile's death.
"Rest in peace, Hacke. Your place in HBK's heart is forever given", writes the club on its website.
Tommy "Hacke" Andersson was 60 years old.
