Häcken's Australian veteran Aivi Luik is suspended for three months for violating anti-doping rules, writes Aftonbladet.
The 39-year-old's suspension stems from treatment she received for her back problems when she was a pro in Italy in 2022. Her then-club Pomigliano failed to document a dispensation application, which led to Luik being accused of violating anti-doping rules.
I still have a hard time understanding that I'm in this situation, she says to the newspaper.
Häcken's club manager Marcus Jodin is critical of how Pomigliano handled the matter.
Aivi has been transparent with us all the way, shown all documentation, and we fully believe in her. I feel sorry for Aivi, and we're losing one of our players because they didn't handle it properly. You get frustrated and angry, he says to Aftonbladet.
The suspension ends on October 16.
