Häcken has four consecutive second places in the women's top league. But when the coaches were to tip the winner of the year, the choice fell clearly on the Gothenburg team.
However, a lot needs to be corrected, admits Häcken coach Mak Lind after 2–3 against Malmö FF.
We can lose football matches, but I'm not satisfied with the way we do it, he says.
I'm very, very, very disappointed, of course.
"It sucks"
Häcken started the competitive season with three strong cup matches, which gave them a group win with a total of 16–3 in goal difference.
But that game was blown away in the women's top league premiere.
They score two goals in less than 20 minutes. It was not what we had expected, it's clear that it sucks, says Felicia Schröder.
"Lots of matches"
Häcken's super talent did reduce to 1–2 on a penalty. But despite Häcken later also scoring an equalizer, it was Malmö FF who got the final word.
Mak Lind was forced to abstain from home-coming star Elin Rubensson due to illness and also has Anna Anvegård on the injury list until at least the national team break.
Their routine would have been needed in the premiere.
They are very skilled football players that we lack. This with being able to lead the team could have been reinforced greatly with them on the pitch, says Mak Lind.
But I have a pretty good squad, to be honest. We're not where we should be based on the match image.
"Requires many wins"
Last year's winner Rosengård started with a 1–0 win against Piteå and gold competitor Hammarby rolled over Växjö with 4–1.
That makes the premiere loss even tougher, notes Mak Lind.
We know that this league requires many wins, you can't afford to lose so many points, especially not at home, he says.
We have a lot to talk about after this day, I have to admit.
