"For private consumption, emissions were the highest for a third quarter since 2021", says Nils Brown, analyst at SCB's environmental accounts, in a press release.
During the third quarter, the growth rate was 6.4 percent, which follows the same trend as earlier in 2024.
At the turn of the year 2023/2024, the government and the Sweden Democrats significantly reduced the reduction obligation for blending biofuels, primarily in diesel.
"It's the first time since the start of the time series in 2008 that we see an increase in greenhouse gas intensity for three quarters in a row", says Nils Brown.
Among other things, emissions from the construction sector and from households and non-profit organizations increased by 35.1 percent and 13.8 percent, respectively.
