Documentary filmmaker Göran-Hugo Olsson ("Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975") is back with a new in-depth exploration of historical archive material, announces Folkets Bio in a press release.
As the title suggests, "Israel Palestine on Swedish TV 1958-1989" deals with the years 1958-1989 when public service monopoly prevailed and SVT had extensive reporting on site from war zones. Much of the material has not been shown since it was first broadcast, such as a report with Yassir Arafat and interviews with Israel's Foreign Minister Abba Eban during a visit to Sweden.
The film explores how Sweden formed strong bonds with Israel and also engaged in and debated the Palestinians' struggle for freedom. The idea is to learn from history in order to understand one of our time's greatest conflicts.
"People ask if the project or I have changed after October 7. But it hasn't changed at all. I dislike both Hamas and Netanyahu just as much today as I did a year ago," says Göran Hugo Olsson in a press release.
